Used to be our world cried out at us to fix this, mend that, replace another thing. Now we withstand a constant barrage of devices shouting at us to upgrade, refresh, respond, update. We have moved from an awareness of the material, visible, touchable world, to one of virtual, intangible systems demanding our attention at all times. Thinking and planning and sorting out choices seems now to be a luxury of time. There is always a technology wanting our attention just to do the necessary basics. It's a pushy culture refusing to let us move at our own rate, in our own way, imposing on us the latest technological confusion.
